Customer discovery

Customer discovery interviews without scheduling a call

You have people to ask but not the hours to call each of them. Send one link with one open question and let an AI interviewer talk with each person.

What a customer discovery interview with no scheduling looks like

You write one open question and share one link. People answer in their own time, in a conversation of about 5–10 minutes. There are no calendar invites, no no-shows and no one to take notes.

Who you can reach: 20 to 50 people with one question

If you already have people to ask, such as a mailing list, a community, past customers or a waitlist, the same link goes to all of them. Any number of people can answer, and each is interviewed individually, so you can hear from 20 or 50 people instead of the five you had time to call.

Which question to ask

Ask about the problem, not your idea: “Tell me about the last time you had to deal with this. What did you do?”. People describe what they tried, which is more useful than whether they like a product that does not exist yet.

What it reveals: problem language and workarounds

The AI follows up on each answer, asking what happened next and what they used instead. You come away with the words people use for the problem and the spreadsheets, scripts and habits they have built around it, which is the evidence for whether a new tool would be worth switching to.

What you get back

distil is free to create and answer. The output is findings with quotes: what several people said, where they disagreed, and how many conversations it rests on.

Start with one question

Write the question, share the link and read what people said.
