The Light
What a Light is like
They come alive around people and love bringing them together, especially to try something new. When a group can’t agree, they find the plan everyone can say yes to. Then they make sure it actually happens, long after the first excitement has worn off.
You’ll know a Light when they…
- save a seat for the new person.
- remember who doesn’t eat what.
- still be organising the plan after everyone else has lost interest.
- find the restaurant that works for the whole table.
What they’re great at
Making people feel they belong.
New people leave their gatherings knowing more people than when they arrived.
Following through.
The plan made over dinner actually ends up in the calendar.
Finding common ground.
A group with six opinions ends up somewhere everyone’s happy.
Where they get stuck
Saying yes too often.
They offer to help, then realise they’ve promised the same weekend to three people.
Putting themselves last.
At their own party, they’re too busy looking after guests to enjoy it.
Dropping their own view.
They had a preference, but it quietly disappeared once the group decided.
In love
They remember the date someone mentioned once and book the table before it fills up. Making plans together is one of the ways they show care.
Sometimes they start running the relationship like the group chat. Their partner may need a turn choosing the night and deciding what matters.
As a friend
They remember birthdays and keep old groups meeting. When someone new comes along, the Light finds them a seat and brings them into the conversation.
They can end up doing every check-in and making every plan. It takes them a while to admit when a friendship is running on their effort alone.
At work
They hear the big idea and work out who needs what. A week later, they are still checking that the jobs from the meeting get done.
Loose ends keep finding their way onto the Light’s list. Soon the team relies on work they never clearly agreed to own.
How they grow
Their first answer is often yes. Saying what they want first, or letting someone else host, keeps the Light in the plan as a person too.
Checking the calendar saves them from promising the same evening twice. Accepting help also means they get to enjoy the dinner they arranged.
Who the Light clicks with

The Dreamer
The Dreamer leaves Saturday open. The Light turns one quiet wish from the Dreamer into a plan they can share.

The Spark
The Spark brings a new face to dinner. The Light picks the date and makes sure that person gets a seat.

The Captain
The Captain makes the call. The Light notices whose idea the Captain missed and keeps the agreed work on track.

The Cipher
The Light fills the room with people. The Cipher spots the faulty speaker and gets the music working again.

Sound like you? Or someone you know?
Every Light is different up close. A distil read is written from your own conversation, with the lines you said that gave it away.
